When is Election Day?

April 6th, 2021.

When do Mail-in Ballots go out?

Mail in ballots will be sent to city residents at least 15 days prior to the election. They should arrive in your mailbox prior to March 22, 2021.

Why isn't Wade Troxell running for Mayor again?

In Fort Collins, the Mayor is elected for a two-year term and is limited to three terms. Mr. Troxell has reached his term limit as Mayor of Fort Collins.

When is the last day I can mail them back?

This information will be available closer to the April 2021 election.

Why is this election happening in April and not November?

In accordance of Fort Collins city charter, regular municipal elections for the City of Fort Collins are held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in April of odd-numbered years.

If I miss the deadline to mail in my ballot, can I still drop it off?

YES! You can drop it off at any drop off box/location prior to or on election day. You can also vote in person on election day, April 6th, 2021 by 7:00 PM MST. 

Who votes for Mayor of Fort Collins?

All eligible voters inside the city limits of Fort Collins. 

Why is there no primary before the election?

Our city elections are NON-PARTISAN, meaning that the candidates run without party affiliation. With no party affiliation, there is no primary necessary.
